What's RFE about?
I just got an email from my attorney that the RFE was for photos. So it doesn't
sound like something that should stall the 485 processing...But it really depends
on the process they follow I guess.

It is better to maintain ur F1-status (meaning all that needed to be on F1) atleast till you get receipt number.
(So that there is no need to worry incase ur application gets rejected and you dont get receipr number).
If you are on F1 while applying i-485, There is no clearly defined rules on when your F1 status goes out after aplying I-485.
If you are currently on valid F1 status then you can keep that status if you want to, provided if you obey all F1 rules
In general, If you use I-485 EAD and AP you are almost out of F1-status
http://www.nafsa.org/_/Document/_/nsc-nafsa_open_house.pdf
from above link:
16. What is the guidance regarding adjustment of status and SEVIS maintenance? Until what point must a person maintain F-1 or J-1 status?
A period of authorized stay begins at the time the applicant properly files his/hersection 245 I-485 with CIS. The applicant’s nonimmigrant F-1 or J-1 status should bemaintained at least until their I-485 is properly filed to avoid triggering unlawful presence issues.

President Obama will send up to 1,200 National Guard troops to the Southwest border and increase spending on law enforcement, yielding to demands from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers there that border security be tightened, administration officials said.
That was the opening of an article in the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/26/us/26border.html?partner=rss&emc=rss). Here are additional excerpts:
Homeland Security officials said that the troops would provide support to law enforcement officers already working along the border by helping observe and monitor traffic between official crossing points, and would help analyze trafficking patterns in hopes of intercepting illegal drug shipments. They performed similar tasks in an earlier deployment along the border from 2006 to 2008, when they also assisted with road and fence construction. The troops have not been involved directly in intercepting border crossers.
In addition to the soldiers, the White House said it would request $500 million in supplemental funds to pay for more federal agents, prosecutors, investigators and technology at the border.
Homeland Security officials have said that they have significantly increased border security efforts since Mr. Obama took office. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, a former governor of Arizona, said last month that the border was “as secure now as it has ever been,” though she conceded there was room for improvement. Critics on the right derided her remarks as out of touch.

Simple answer to so many questions..."Should I attend the rally?" "will this make a difference?" "Will I have to make up my day off?"..etc! No matter what your questions are, here's the answer: JUST COME! Come on guys! We need you! Please come and help, we wouldn't ask if your presence weren't so important!!! We ask because we know this will greatly benefit you!
Do it out of moral convictions. ATTEND BECAUSE IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO!!!

aguy,
You are eligible for 1yr extensions. If your I-140 is approved, you can get 3 yr extensions. Since you are saying it is NIW, it is always better to be on H1 because those cases are approved after intense scrutiny. Where was your I140 application sent?

---I'm only talking in regards to FY-2007 in light of current development.---
Now that everything is current there would not be any need to per country quota. CORRECT?
Or since EB3 other is not current ("U") they cannot use AC21?
they have hinted retrogression in Sept for China, India, etc
Now if there is no per country quota, how can they retrogress EB for China, India, or any other country unless EB3 ROW is not current?
So unless they retrogress ROW, logically they should not retrogress at least EB2 for India, China and other countries

I applied for a green card for my wife just after we were married on May 11, 2009. We received an appointment for an interview in Detroit on August 25, 2009, but we had moved to Texas in the meantime. The appointment was rescheduled at the Dallas field centre on September 14, 2009 (Monday).
I am wondering what to expect, from the small details to the big stuff. My 3 biggest questions:
. Does anyone have enough experience to say if there is there reasonable parking available at the field centre? I have never been to Irving. The web page says that there is public parking available, but nothing about how much.
. I was married before, and applied for a green card for my first wife. It was granted in 2004, and we divorced in 2006. Should I expect extra scrutiny / challenge because of this?
. Is one actually asked questions of the "What sort of toothpaste does your wife use?" variety? I'm really bad at remembering these details, and am wondering if there's any curve ball that I should expect.
. Is there a general impression of whether the Dallas field centre is a pleasant or an unpleasant place? My dealings with my first marriage (many years ago) were all with the Chicago field centre, which is very unpleasant, but my one piece of business with the Detroit field centre were easy and pleasant.
Thanks so much to anyone who can help relieve my nervousness about what to expect.
UPDATE: I forgot to ask another one: At my previous green card interview, the interviewer asked for a set of passport photos and paystubs for several previous months, although the interview letter had not requested them. I had been warned about this, so I had them with me. Naturally, I am also bringing passport photos and pay stubs this time, just in case. Is there anything else that I might be expected to bring that wouldn't have been mentioned on the interview letter?

A thought about meeting the Senators/Congressmen.
Should we not meet the new senators and congressmen now, BEFORE they actually join office? I have a feeling that once they take office, they will become too busy with day to day stuff and immigration will DEFINITELY become a back-burner issue.
Is it possible to meet the new people moving in after January, now instead of after they take office?

I am a July 07 filer. Recently I sent in EAD renewal application and got it approved within a month. When I saw my EAD card the Sex category on it was F instead of M. Now what are my option. Should I reapply for EAD or continue working on it. I changed my employer last month and am currently working on EAD.

I just went to Mumbai for H1 stamping and my previous visa on the passport had expired in 2006. So even if you are going for H1 stamping but your visa on the passport has been expired for more than 12 months...then you have to answer NO for this question.
